The fact that a beloved main leading character was killed off, killing off a Charmed One, raised the stakes. War is full of casualties on both sides, demons have many casualties, and then the Charmed Ones to experience a big loss like that is humanizing, and real. Plus, with losing Prue, absence makes the heart grow fonder.The first 3 seasons were fantastic in terms of writing and acting quality.
